Oh my god,, I have not understood enough about argumentative paragraph.!!?? at least two days I think about that. I difficultly find the theme. By consulting with Google and Ms. Vita’s PDF, I got insight then directly I wrote the paragraph. however, when my friends and I have workshop in the class, almost of us still have incorrect writing. For example is the grammatical errors and elements of the paragraph. I know that argumentative paragraph must be the opposite but I did not write it. Therefore, I have to make the revision of mine. Because of that one, I got new knowledge. When we write argumentative paragraph, we have to put the opposite paragraph and must be completed by the explanation or example.

Dear my blog,, I had make up class on Monday. On that day I and my friends wrote about cause and effect paragraph. I felt that it would be difficult to find a topic for writing it. But I try to find a topic that is related to around my life. I use my village to be the topic. I felt enjoy when I made it. And I hope the others friend too.

Let’s continue to Wednesday. On Wednesday, there were three presenters. The first presenter is Tryas. Tryas’ paragraph is good but we were difficult to analyze it. She assumed that hers is persuasive paragraph same with my opinion and some of friends because in the last sentence there was a suggestion. but, in fact it was included into conclusion paragraph. so, it can’t be called by persuasive paragraph. based on that, I can conclude that persuasive paragraph has to have word/verb that persuades the reader in the topic sentence. Is it right????

 It’s time to make contrast and comparison paragraph. And I got an interesting idea. I make comparison and contrast of Bandung and Surabaya city. On Wednesday, my assignment was reviewed by Nisa and I reviewed Nisa’s paragraph. Nisa wrote an interesting paragraph by the title Orchid and Cactus. But, both of us did not make a really good paragraph because we did not write the concluding sentence. And as Mrs. Vita said that good paragraph of contrast and comparison has concluding sentence that is available the preference of subjects.

Let’s move to Friday with presentation section. On that day there were at least 5 presenters including me. When Aris presented his paragraph, Mrs. Vita assumed that it’s not paragraph but an essay because there was space between one or two sentences. However, Aris said that actually it’s a paragraph but he modified it for making easy. It should not be done actually since it would make the reader misunderstanding.

And on that day, I got new lesson that theme and topic is not a sentence but a word or a phrase. For instance, “The woman joins military” that is topic sentence, “woman” that is the topic. The other lesson is intro /opening sentence is not always topic sentence, that’s why topic sentence is not always in the beginning of paragraph. And my friends said that “don’t judge the paragraph from the first paragraph”.

Wait for the next explanation.

On Wednesday, I become reviewer of Dini’s paragraph. At that time we exchanged comment of our description paragraph. My assumption is that Dini’s paragraph has been good although it still has the grammatical errors. And I thought that all of my friends at that time have understood about description paragraph because they were seen relax and enjoy. Moreover, the lecturer let us listen to the songs that made us calm.

  Then, on Friday, some of friends presented about definition paragraph, classification and contrast and comparison paragraph. Last time, I felt I have not understood yet about contrast and comparison paragraph. But now, I feel I have understood about it. Contrast and comparison paragraph is paragraph that has two subjects which has similarities or differences. That my understanding of contrast and comparison paragraph. In other case, to differentiate between definition and explanation paragraph is not easy enough. Do you feel that they are same? because I feel so. May it will be clear after I got many explanations and examples than…...

Confusing Paragraph

Never appear in my mind that analyze paragraph is rather difficult than make it.

Even though I understand the characteristic of each paragraph, but I have difficulty to analyze the paragraph. Not only me, but also most of my friends are still confused about paragraph. For example, when Yogi presented his paragraph, we did not know what paragraph is it. Some of friends guessed that the paragraph is explanation, and the others guessed that the paragraph is definition paragraph. And yogi said that his paragraph was descriptive paragraph. If his paragraph is descriptive, it should be able to be imagined by the reader, but his paragraph can’t be. At first, I think that his paragraph is definition paragraph because it definites “Indonesia”.  Then, when we analyzed together, there was something wrong with Yogi’s paragraph. we can’t find the main idea. We thought that his paragraph consists of many topic sentences. Finally, we decided that his paragraph was not a good paragraph.
